COURSE MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS

Wednesday 28th September 2011

Robert Hardie and his staff have started their program of Autumn / Winter maintenance  on various areas of the course which have been suffering from the wet weather / summer , you will see the tractor with the Vertidrain machine in operation a lot over the coming weeks, this machine is not Hollow Coring but is leaving holes in the ground with its 30cm tines and the main aim is to relieve compaction and to allow surface water to penetrate deeper and reach the drainage layers on the tees , greens and other areas including aprons of the greens and  also parts of some fairways, which in turn improves greatly playability .We have already seen the benift on the greens which were done a couple of weeks ago, this work will be non stop during the winter providing conditions allow and is badly needed as it has been neglected for some time, all golfers can treat any areas which have been worked on as G.U.R and can take preferred lies if a ball comes to rest in any of the holes but  preferred lies will almost be in operation very soon on a permanent basis.

Watch out for more up dates on the course maintenance progress.
