Lee saves his best till last with a 70 in the Scottish PGA

It was nice to finish off the 2017 golf season with a 70 round the Kings Course at Gleneagles to finish 27th.
That may not sound that impressive, but when you consider that this was my 7th competitive round since August 2016 and only my 12th round in total in over 15 months!
It is very satisfying to perform well “under the cosh” as my old coach Bob Torrance used to say.
My score of 70 consisted of an eagle on the 6th after I rolled in a 20 foot putt, and 1 birdie after hitting a 3 wood from 245 yards to 8 feet on the 15th hole. However, on 10 other occasions, I lipped out and shaved the hole for birdies, a very special round could have been on the card!
It’s 30 years since I won my first 72 hole Professional event, winning the 1987 Daily Express tournament at Carnoustie to become the youngest ever winner on the Tartan Tour, a record that still stands, but I am even more proud of the fact, that in 1987, I played a total of 8 rounds of competitive golf and managed to win a Major 72 hole event. where there is a will there is a way! And most amateurs think that Professionals play everyday, nothing could be further from the truth for the Club Professional and PGA Coach.
