Craibstone Junior ClubGolfers Trip to St.Andrews

On Sunday 26th June at 8.30am in the Craibstone Golf Club CarPark, 28 of our Junior ClubGolfers, aged between 9 and 13 equipped with golf clubs departed on a 49 seater First Coach to St.Andrews for our first ever Craibstone ClubGolf Texas Scramble.
At the ClubGolf Christmas Party in 2015, I set forth my plans for 2016 and all the kids and parents were thrilled when a trip to play 9 holes away from home was announced.
After many months of Fund Raising events, ie a Carwash run by Juniors and Parents, A very successful Quiz night in the golf club and lots of donations from parents and club members, we reached our target.
On arrival at St.Andrews , all the kids were given a goodie bag with golf balls, and a fabulous packed lunch courtesy of Doorsteps Catering company, thank you Ian Still.
With 7 teams of 4, and accompanied by 10 parents who made the trip as well as Jim Martin and Joanne McClosskey(our 2 volunteer ClubGolf coaches) we set off at 11.36.
We had a fabulous sunny day, I announced each player as they teed off , team pictures were taken and all the kids got a real taste of what it feels like to play in a big tournament.The winning team birdied the final hole to win by 1 shot.
All the kids were presented with a medal ( courtesy of Philip Henderson at hnddesigns thank you) and then we had a group photo on the Swilken Bridge to round the day off. The kids can't wait for next years trip.
