Scottish Open Qualifier Results

Monday 6th July 2015

Saturday 4th -Sunday 5th July- 36 hole qualifier for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

My first round tee time over The Links of North Berwick was delayed 2hours due to the torrential rain. I teed off at 5 pm and played the front nine in to quite a strong left to right wind. I played ok for a front nine score of 39. With scoreboards showing the earlier starters shooting 6 and 7 under par, I was wondering if I was playing the same golf course.

I managed to get back to 1 over after birdies on 11 and 12 and felt confident of getting another birdie to finish level par. This was not to be as I made a double on 13, bogey on the long 17th and pushed my tee shot out of bounds on 18 to finish on 6 over par 77.

By the time I signed my card it was 10.10pm and yes it was dark. We just managed to finish.

Sunday, I teed off at 8.15 in beautiful sunshine, North Berwick is a beautiful town with amazing views across to Fife and of course the famous Bass Rock.

My score didn't match the weather, another 77. With halves of 42- 6 over par and a level 35 in. My scores were no where near the qualifying mark of 10 under par( very good scoring). For 25 holes I was 3 under par, I made a couple of wrong club choices which cost me dropped shots and 3 slack tee shots which cost me 7 shots( can't afford to make mistakes like that) on the whole my game is close, just need to sharpen up a bit!

Tip of the Day-  stay focused on your target and commit to each swing! If your routine and commitment is good and you are still not hitting your shots as you would like- you need to come and get a lesson. Use your free lesson for a chance to play at Carnoustie
