Andrew Ashley Scratch Matchplay Champion 2020

Congratulations to Andrew Ashley who overcame Shaun Rennie in a titanic battle for the Scratch Matchplay title, winning on the 3rd extra hole.

18 holes was not enough as both players tried to gain the upper hand throughout the match.

Commiserations to Shaun who played steady all day but just could not get the better of Andrew who does not know when to admit defeat. Shaun had overcame Alan Robson and an extra hole win over Andrew Carle to reach the final.

Well done to Andrew Ashley who certainly had to battle hard to win the Scratch Matchplay beating Martin Elrick 2 and 1, Chris Polson 2 and 1 and Chris Fowlie 3 and 2 to reach the final.

Thanks to all the players who qualified and competed in the Scratch Matchplay this year, cramming games in to a busy schedule was not easy but the standard was high and it was fitting that the final went to the 21st hole to achieve a winner.
