Championship 2019 Well done Ian Still

Congratulations to Ian Still who was crowned the Club Champion yesterday after our 36 holes final day. With rounds of 72 – 67 – 75, Ian won by 4 shots from Paul Reid and Mark McDonald.
It was perfect conditions in the morning round and Ian’s 67 round gave him a one shot lead over Andrew Finlay who had posted 2 rounds of 70. The afternoon round seen the wind pick up and the conditions prove more testing, but Ian kept things together as his challengers fell away. Well done Ian.
The handicap section seen Paul Reid and Mark McDonald tied on 203, which meant that a three hole aggregate playoff was required. Net scores of 68-66-69 from Paul and 68-69-66 from Mark meant that 3 more holes were needed to determine the winner. Paul opened up with a birdie on the 1st and then pars on the 2nd meant Mark had to try and force a birdie attempt on the 3rd but his attempt slipped past leaving Paul to collect the handicap section.
Congratulations to all players who played the 36 holes yesterday, it was the first time we had done that and although there were a few tired legs and a number of red faces after all the sun, the day was deemed very successful. The Bistro had a great buzz about it as everyone congregated after the first round and same afterwards when all the play had been completed. Many thanks also to Robert Hardie our head greenkeeper who had the course set up to give the competitors a number of risk and reward chances for the morning round, and then spent time resetting the course for the afternoon round. All the players appreciated the effort put in.
