Course Improvements January 2020

Friday 10th January 2020

As you see from the image, the 7th tee has been leveled out completing another one of our winter tasks.

Some other improvements planned are on the 9th, to clear away rough beside tee, tidy edges around pond in front of tee and also same at the pond in front of green.

The 10th hole has nothing planned.

At the 11th, we will strip away the turf on the green and build up this tee and level it out as there is a big slope on this one to be remedied. Some of the rough nearest to the winter green will be cut back on the left hand side, and same on the right, we shall take another strip out of this rough and make it into semi rough.

On the 12th, we intend tidying up this pond and raising the edges, making the path edges tidier by cutting back rough grass, trimming the trees as these are starting to infringe on the ladies tee, cut back a strip of rough to left of winter green, and remove some of the gorse on the right hand bank.

You've probably noticed that we have improved the walkway from 12th to 13th by cutting back rough at either side of the path.

The 13th has also a lot of remedial work planned, down the left hand side we have already taken out another strip of deep rough, we plan to work on the bank on the left hand side around the 150yard marker, we are going to thin this out and make it semi-rough so you can play a shot (albeit below your feet for right handers). Given time we hope to have this playing like the bank on the right hand side. The pond will be tidied up and restructured and made more into a feature. We also have great plans to remove all the gorse to the right of the tee, flatten this area out and build a new tee in this right hand corner.

There is a fair amount of time, effort and money involved to get all of these tasks done, and one thing we need is for the weather to remain kind, but hopefully we can get through all these tasks and have the course looking fantastic for the start of the season.
