Craibstone Team win at home in Annodata Matchplay

Monday 8th April 2019

This season we have entered two teams into the Annodata National Matchplay Championship and on Sunday one of our teams played a preliminarily match at home versus Inverness Golf Club.

It was a tight affair and at one stage Inverness were up in 3 matches, but the Craibstone team fought hard over the last six holes, with Stuart Milne finishing first with a 5 and 4 victory quickly followed up with Derek Walker closing his match out with a 4 and 3 victory.  Ian Still found himself 2 down with 5 to play and it was still the case on the 16th when he holed a clutch par putt to half the hole and then proceeded to win the last two to end his match all square. With Craibstone guaranteed at least a play off it was down to the last two matches with Craig Wilkinson 1 down with three to play and Phil McBain two down with four to play. Craig picked up wins going down the last couple to edge his match 1up and Phil got his back to all square standing on the 18th but his opponent won the last to win 1up.

Overall it meant a 3.5 to 1.5 victory for the Craibstone team. Now both Craibstone teams await their fate in the first round proper.
