Golf Sixes - Craibstone Junior Development

Last week Sunday 22nd August, 12 of our Juniors played in the 2nd of 3 Golf Suxes matches held at Westhill Golf Club.

On a fabulous sunny day, 2 teams of 6 juniors per team  from 3 clubs ( Westhill, Kippie Lodge and Craibstone ) played in a Texas Scramble 2 man team format!

Our Craibstone A Team placed 3rd on the day to finish in 2nd place overall  , 2 points behind Westhill with the final match being played this coming Sunday 5th September from 2pm at Craibstone.

The Golf Foundation Golf Sixes initiative sees juniors who are just getting in to the game play together in teams of 2 with the emphasis on fun , playing 6 holes.

Its been great to walk round and watch all the juniors playing with pure joy on their faces and encouraging one another-with lots of parents walking round the atmosphere is super!

As a PGA Advanced Coach, Junior Development and Performance Coach for Scottish Golf and former National Coach to the Trinidad & Tobago Under 18's Boys and Girls teams, it's my passion to help grow the game and help our juniors experience some potentially life changing events ( I played in the Scottish 2 man team in the Junior World Cup held at the Atlanta Athletic Club - Bobby Jones home club) without the help of parents, coaches and volunteers I wouldn't have been able to achieve any of the success I had as a junior. It's so rewarding to see all the juniors start what will hopefully be a lifetime of fun and pleasure.
