Craibstone plays host to the opening fixture on North East Alliance 2017/18 Season

Thursday 7th September 2017

Yesterday was the opening event of the 2017/18 North East Alliance Season, played at Craibstone Golf Club.

We were blessed with a fabulous day and over 100 competitors, who all commented on the excellent condition and presentation of the course. Massive thanks to Head Greenkeeper Robert Hardie and his staff , for the hard work they put in daily to ensure the course is in the best possible condition.

We were also fortunate to have Paul Lawrie, 1999 Open Champion, playing alongside his son Craig and nephew Steven.

Paul showed his class with a 5 under par score of 64, to win by only 1 shot from his very talented son Craig.

Paul has always been a great supporter of the North East Alliance and continures to give back to the game with his amazing work through the Paul Lawrie Foundation, well done Paul.

I also participated yesterday, and played quite well, being Level par on the 13th tee, a pulled tee shot resulted in a lost ball and a double bogey, and after hitting a solid tee shot down the right side of the 14th fairway, never saw my ball again, a real mystery, given there is no rough to lose a ball, anayway, given that we had fallen behind, I chose to NR, and keep the play moving, I finished with 4 pars, which apart from the 13th and 14th holes would have been a reasonable round.
