Tuesday 20th August 2019
On Sunday 18th August, Craibstone hosted the final match of the 2019 Super Sixes Junior League series.
The Super 6’s league has been a great success with 5 clubs taking part in this inaugural event.
Each club picks 6 juniors from a pool of 12, all of whom are looking to develop their games and go on to get their first handicap.
On Sunday we had 30 juniors aged between 8 and 14 representing Craibstone, Westhill, Peterculter, Portlethen and Stonehaven golf clubs.
The event is played over 6 holes in a Texas Scramble format in teams of 2.
I ran a mini Putting challenge by the clubhouse prior to the shotgun start at 2.30pm to create a fun atmosphere and then everyone went out to play.
There was tremendous support from families and all the juniors behaved in an examplary fashion, providing encouragement to fellow players, smiling and having a great time.
After play, all the kids went to the clubhouse where Tomaz and his staff had prepared chicken nuggets and mini pizza’s, needles to say, there was none left for any adults.
I would like to thank all the clubs, and respective Junior Convennors and helpers who have put a tremendous amount of hard work and effort in to make every event a great success and more importantly, help Grow the Game for the future of our great game.
The game of golf is in very good hands with the kids coming through, especially good to see so many girls playing, and playing very well indeed.
If your son or daughter would like to get in to golf, and indeed if you as a parent would also like to get in to golf, I run group coaching for kids and adults weekly.
